Eat More Vag’aīna

$500.00

The original piece that inspired the Yonic Series.

Aīna is Hawaiian for earth or land. And on the islands you will see the common euphemism “Eat more veg’aīna” on hats, t-shirts, and bumper stickers everywhere.

Although it’s quite witty, it also references how much the Hawaiian culture respects their land or aīna. They want to respect mother aīna by cultivating their lands, supporting local farmers, and knowing where their food comes from. It speaks to both their respect for Mother Earth and respect for the yoni.

I painted this work while living on Big Island, Kona side. Up mauka in the hills of Captain Cook. As a play on the recognizably “Eat more Veg’aīna” I named this piece “Eat more Vag’aīna”
